Life is good, death is peaceful… it’s the transition that’s the problem
When we hear about a cardiac arrest, or a non-breathing patient, or a suspected death come over the radio, we immediately think about CPR and what to do to this patient. But CPR was never meant to be applied to everyone. It was never meant to be applied to most people. We sometimes know ahead of time that we’re just doing things to a patient’s body and not actually helping the person. Especially when the person doesn’t want what we would do their body. How do we help the person, the family, and us do what the patient actually wants?
